David G. Ross, esq.
Dave Ross has devoted his career to assisting clients with their business law, franchise law, and employment law issues. His passion for his work, tireless dedication to service, and ability to successfully resolve vexing legal problems have been hallmarks of his career.
Prior to starting Ross Law Firm, LLC, Mr. Ross spent years representing businesses and individuals in litigation, litigation prevention, and transactional matters. During his years at a franchise litigation boutique firm in downtown Washington, DC, he represented franchisees in state and federal courts throughout the country. In doing so, he squared off against some of the nation’s most powerful companies and routinely confronted issues related to franchise terminations, protected territories, encroachment, quality assurance, franchisor fraud, and franchise offering circulars.
Mr. Ross has extensive litigation experience in other areas as well. In the business law arena, he has masterfully handled complex, multi-party litigation involving millions of dollars and claims of misappropriation of trade secrets, tortious interference with contract, breach of fiduciary duties, civil conspiracy, and other commercial torts. A former Senior Associate at a respected employment law firm, he also has represented both employers and employees with regard to claims of wrongful discharge, unlawful discrimination, sexual harassment, and non-payment of overtime wages.
Despite his zeal for litigation, however, Mr. Ross also takes particular pride in the “other” components of his practice: litigation prevention and transactional work. Indeed, it is because of Mr. Ross’s litigation experience that he’s able to help clients avoid some of the potential pitfalls that could lead to litigation or otherwise cause problems in the future. A substantial part of his practice is devoted to advising businesses on various commercial and employee-related issues, preparing employee handbooks, and reviewing and negotiating contracts such as franchise agreements, buy-sell agreements, restrictive covenants, personal service contracts, employment contracts, and employee severance agreements.
Mr. Ross has represented many different types of clients. In fact, his clients have run the gamut from individuals and small business owners to a professional employer organization with assets exceeding $500 million and a nurse staffing business with hundreds of employees.
A 1997 graduate of American University’s Washington College of Law, where he graduated cum laude, Mr. Ross is licensed in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
He’s a member of the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers, Maryland State Bar Association Committee on Franchising, American Bar Association Forum on Franchising, and Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association.
